Taking orders at the counter

Sign in with your PIN, build a cart with modifiers and notes, use tables and tabs, and sell or check in bookings.

The staff POS is the screen your team uses at the counter. This article covers everyday order-taking; for payments and the cash drawer see Payments and the till.

Signing in

When the POS screen loads you'll see Sign in to POS. Enter your staff PIN (at least 4 digits) on the keypad and confirm. PINs are set per user under Settings → Users & roles — see Users & roles. Your name appears in the top bar, so orders, edits, and till actions are recorded against you.

Building a cart

  1. Use the navigation rail on the left to move between menu pages, and the search button to find anything quickly.
  2. Tap a product tile to add it to the cart. If the item has options, the modifier screen opens — pick sizes, extras, and add any line notes (e.g. "no onion"), then confirm.
  3. The cart sits on the right. Tap a line to change its quantity or options; use the minus button to remove it.

Order details: types, tables, names

Depending on your location's checkout settings, orders can be Dine in, Pick-up, Take-away, or Delivery, and you may be asked for a customer name or table. Configure which order types are enabled, the default, and when a table or name is required under Settings → Checkout.

  • Add table — tap Add table in the cart footer to attach the order to a table.
  • Discount — apply a promo or discount from the cart footer; see Discounts.
  • Customer — attach a customer to the order to earn or redeem loyalty points.

Tabs

If tabs are enabled for your venue, the cart shows an Add to tab button alongside Card Payment and Checkout. Add rounds to an open tab and settle it later. Find open tabs any time via the Open tabs entry in the navigation rail (or the Tabs tab in Search), where you can resume a tab, add more items, or take payment.

Finding past orders

Tap Search in the navigation rail. It has four tabs:

  • Orders — recent orders with full detail, receipts, refunds, and outstanding payments.
  • Tabs — open and recently closed tabs.
  • Tables — what's currently seated where, with the option to move tables.
  • Customers — look up a customer and their history.

Selling bookings at the counter

If your venue takes bookings, bookable products (tickets, sessions, multi-day passes) appear on the menu like any other tile:

  1. Tap the bookable product.
  2. A picker opens showing live availability — choose the date, time slot, and party size (or a date range for multi-day products). The price shown comes from your price rules.
  3. The booking is held and added to the cart as a line (quantity is fixed at one per booking — remove and re-pick to change it).
  4. Take payment as normal. The booking is confirmed once paid.

See the bookings overview for how holds, capacity, and confirmations work.

Checking in a booking

When check-in is enabled for your POS app, a Check in button appears at the bottom of the menu view:

  1. Tap Check in.
  2. Type the customer's booking code — or scan it with a USB/Bluetooth barcode scanner, which types it for you.
  3. Tap Check in to redeem the booking and see the party details.
